Pre-Futurity and Futurity Class Format – Both classes will be 2 full go rounds and a short
go. These classes are judged and timed. The time turns into a score and is added to the 2
judges scores to get a total score. The pre-futurity short go will be on Saturday night with
the Pre-Futurity Heading and Heeling finals. The Futurity finals will be on the same day as
the go rounds for this class. The Intermediate and 19 & Under subclasses will be paid out in
the short goes. If the payout pays more holes in the subclasses, then riders that make it
into the finals will payout the remainder in the 2nd round.
Rider Eligibility for the Pre-Futurity and Futurity Classes – Riders Must be Female to Enter.
19 & Under subclass – riders that are 19 years of age and under can enter this class.
Riders must show proof of age to the show office at check in. If a rider turns 20 prior to
the event start date, that rider is not eligible to enter this class.
Intermediate subclass – riders can only have $20,000 or less LTE in any Futurity
Breakaway events or $40,000 or less in LTE in rodeo events. If rider earnings exceed
any of these limitations during the year you will no longer be eligible for the
Intermediate division.
The Old West does have an eligibility board, who will ultimately decide whether
someone is eligible or not. Therefore, we encourage all riders that think they are
Intermediate eligible to go ahead and enter it. The board or show office will notify
you if you are not eligible.
