OLD WEST BREAKAWAY
Open Breakaway Timed Event
Open Breakaway PWRC 2027 Qualifier Series Event – This class is a timed event class only. It
is open to any aged horse and horses do not have to be papered. It is open to only female
riders. It will have two full rounds and a short go. Top cumulative high times will move onto
the short go. The cumulative high times going to the short go will depend on the number of
entries in the class. There will not be a separate short go for the subclasses. If the subclasses
pay more holes in the short go then eligible riders making it to the short go, we will pay the
remaining payout left back on the highest times from round 2 in each subclass. Riders must
purchase a PWR ID Card and Nominate your class in the VRQ to be eligible. This event will

PWR Rider Classifications:
Pro – lifetime earnings of $40,000 or more. Annual earnings: $15,001 or more since 2025,
$10,001 or more since 2020.
Challenger – Lifetime earnings of $40,000 or less. Annual earnings: $15,000 or less since
2025, $10,000 or less since 2020.
Limited – Hasn’t held a pro card in over 5 years. Lifetime earnings of $5,000 or less, and
annual earnings of $3,000 or less since 2018. Over the age of 50 (optional)
Breakaway Class Rules - (These rules apply to all breakaway classes offered at the Old West)
Barrier - A rope barrier and electric eye will be used. Two timekeepers, a barrier judge, and
field judge will always be in the arena. Score lengths will be subject to the event
management committee.
